SARA KOSTİC, one of the artists of the 4th Mardin Biennial

Her performance at the Mor Efrem Monastery

“Mapping” performance,

This new long-term performance, designed by Sara Kostic specifically for the biennial, takes place in the old monastery. Focusing on what can be said when words fail, as suggested by the biennial's title: What else can we use to trace what is currently visible and what has disappeared, other than our bodies? Based on the idea that there is no reality closer to a person than their own body, the artist pushes the limits of her body through a series of extremely strenuous physical exercises and presents the results (such as the deformation of her physical limits and fluid production) to the audience. The performance suggests that the moving body can be a tool for reorganizing spatial and physical boundaries.
