“Creative dance workshop for children” LEYLA POSTALCIOĞLU

LEYLA POSTALCIOĞLU,
“CREATIVE DANCE WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN”

June 2-3, 2018 Mardin Museum

Dancer and choreographer Leyla Postalcıoğlu, one of the Biennial artists, is participating in the Biennial with a dance workshop.

The workshop, organized separately for groups aged 8-12 and over 12, creates a space where children can express themselves through the language of movement by dancing, thinking, sharing, and having fun, through physical exercises and improvisation. While pursuing what cannot be expressed in words, concepts related to dance such as space, time, force, body, movement, and form are experienced under the guidance of imagination and instinct. The workshop is presented as a participatory proposal on the concept of “performance,” focusing on the “Body Language” section, posing a series of questions about how art can relate to people and the wider social environment, rather than being a medium or a work of art.
