CEREN ORAN AND BURCU YILMAZ,
“IMPROVISATION WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN: SOUNDPAINTING”

May 26-27, 2018 Mardin Museum

Ceren Oran and Burcu Yılmaz, “Improvisation Workshop for Children: Soundpainting”, May 26-27, 11:00-12:30, 90 min., in collaboration with Mardin Museum.

Dancers and instructors Ceren Oran and Burcu Yılmaz, who are also Biennale artists, are participating in the Biennale with an improvisation workshop for children aged 7-11. “Soundpainting” is recognized as a multidisciplinary and international sign language developed for performance arts. It draws on the healing power of music and its ability to trigger creativity. Within the framework of instructions given by the director using sign language without words, participants/performers have the opportunity to develop their own improvisations and showcase their creativity, while also experiencing teamwork. The workshop is presented as a participant-driven proposal on the concept of “performance,” focusing on the “Body Language” section. It is less about a medium or a work of art and more about a series of questions on how art can relate to people and the wider social environment.
