AYDIN TEKER
“MOVEMENT WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN: MOTHER EARTH AND OUR FEET”
May 7-8, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, 120 min., in collaboration with the Women's Labor Evaluation Foundation (KEDV) Mardin Branch.
Dancer and choreographer Aydın Teker, one of the Biennial artists, participates in the Biennial with a movement workshop. Open to adult women of all ages living in Mardin, this workshop focuses on the feet, which connect the body to Mother Earth. Since every woman has a different body, her relationship with her body is expected to be unique to her. However, beyond their differences, there are also some things that all women have in common. The connection with Mother Earth is one of them. The feet are the body's organ that touches Mother Earth, and the body is as strong as the relationship it establishes with the earth. In this workshop, women are invited to discover their bodies through their connection with Mother Earth. The workshop is presented as a participatory proposal on the concept of “performance,” which is a series of questions about how art can relate to people and the wider social environment, rather than a medium or a work of art, forming the focus of the “Body Language” section.
2001 video performance
Aydın Teker's 2001 video performance titled “Renewal,” one of the artists of the 4th International Mardin Biennial, will be screened as part of the biennial events. The screening will take place at Izla Art Cafe during the biennial.
