While investigating an event that profoundly changed the landscape of the Sahara to the south of Morocco, the filmmaker Abdessamad El Montassir was faced with the silence of previous generations who remain haunted by a history they are unable to relate. With Galb'Echaouf, El Montassir falls back on landscapes, plants and poetry, in search of answers or evidence that could illuminate this amnesia and help reconstruct lost narratives. Foregrounding non-human narratorial positions and nomadic streams of consciousness, Galb'Echaouf offers a non-linear / non-canonical account of dispossession and resilience from the Sahara.
